Protect the material

Work begins with verified copies and organized folders. Cards are not treated as the only copy. File integrity, naming and backup come before creative editing because no effect can replace missing originals.

Selection is storytelling

For photography I remove technical failures and near-duplicates, then build variation in scale, expression, people and detail. For film I organize scenes, audio and camera angles before shaping pace. A strong edit is a complete, intentional account—not every captured file.

Capture One and Lightroom

Capture One or Lightroom can organize RAW photographs and establish exposure, white balance, contrast and colour across a set. Consistency matters: skin, products and locations should belong to one story without every frame looking mechanically identical.

Photoshop

Photoshop is used for detailed local work, layered adjustments, careful cleanup or a requested composite. Adobe’s Lightroom-to-Photoshop workflow can preserve the original and return the edited version to the catalogue. Retouching should refine distractions while keeping people and products believable.

DaVinci Resolve

DaVinci Resolve combines editing, colour, visual effects, motion graphics and Fairlight audio. We use the timeline for story and rhythm, scopes for objective colour evaluation, and audio tools to balance dialogue, ambience and music.

Where AI helps

AI can assist with transcription, search, masking, noise reduction, repetitive cleanup and versions. Every result still receives human review for anatomy, identity, texture, continuity and truth. Automation must not invent an event, product capability or testimonial.

Colour, sound and delivery

Final checks include skin and product colour, highlight and shadow detail, dialogue clarity, music rights, captions, aspect ratio and compression. Masters and web/social versions have different jobs. Every exported file is tested after rendering.

The finish should feel invisible

The audience should notice the person, moment, craft or business—not the software. Current tools make difficult work faster, but taste, restraint and responsibility cannot be automated.
